Hello! I’m LearnedFoot on A03! You’ve matched (or, if you’re a pinch hitter, chosen) on one of these pairs and freeforms, which already means we have thing sin comment. Excellent! I am very excited to see what you come up with!

To start, even though I’ve written a fair amount here, I want to say I’m actually very easy to please. As long as you stick in the general area of my likes and respect my DNWs, I’m going to be delighted. Also, I’m equally excited about all of these options! Some sections are longer than others because I have more specific ideas about certain character combos, but I didn’t request anything I wouldn’t be over the moon to receive.

Characters are the most important thing for me in fic. I certainly appreciate a good plot, but seeing more of the characters I love is my number one priority.

I’m fairly open on tone and genre — fluff, angst, and basically everything in-between is generally good by me.

For requests where I’ve asked for ship fic, I define that broadly — everything from pining/flirting/other pre-relationship up through established relationship can make me happy. If you want to write smut I’ve included information on my likes, but I’d be just as happy with something lower rated.

A note about links to past letters: In some cases, I’ve included links to past letters where I have requested these ships before. I in no way expect you to go reading past letters—those are only there if you WANT extra inspiration.

A note about the structure of the fandom-specific sections: Since the freeforms work as prompts on their own, in the fandom-specific sections I mostly I focused on general thoughts about the relationships, with some prompts that can be mixed with a number of the freeforms, and expanded thoughts on certain freeforms. Please do not take the fact that I expanded on some freeforms and not others as suggestions those are the ones I want the most; those are just the ones that I thought it might be helpful to have some clarification or further thoughts on.

I don’t really know much about how to describe art, and I will pretty much be guaranteed to love whatever you create because I am just amazed at anyone who can make art, but some specific patterns I’ve noticed in things I like:

General thoughts: Holy hell, that final episode of Season 3 brought back ALL my Roy siblings feels, and then gave me a whole pile of new ones. And it also just WOW reminded me why Roman is one of my faves ever. I had no idea how much I needed them teaming up until I saw it on my screen. I had no idea how much I needed Roman standing up to Logan. I REALLY had no idea how much I needed Roman standing up to Logan because he had his siblings behind him.

I just…all the implications of abuse in Roman’s backstory! the way Roman’s hand shook as he decided to stick with the sibs! Kendall comforting him at the end! But also the way Shiv and Roman awkwardly comforted Kendall! The scene in the car where they finally agreed to team up (even if teaming up looks like “eventually we’ll fight for the top spot, but that will be fun!”).

I just…I have a lot of feelings, okay?

I have requested both gen and ships for this, and I am fine with anything from pure gen through intentional incest smarm through total smutty goodness. And while I’ve divided my prompts and freeforms between those that could be either gen or shippy, and those that I was envisioning as specifically shippy, that’s just for organization’s sake. Feel free to draw from either set of freeforms for either kind of request, play around in the squishy smarmy middle, or whatever else makes sense to you!

A note on timelines: I’m mostly interested in canon timeline fics (including backstory and missing scenes), but if a particular freeform calls to you for a canon-divergent AU, I’m down!

A note on other characters and ships: Feel free to incorporate whatever other characters you want. I also ship Roman/Gerri a lot and am interested in the fallout of Season 3 for them, and am intrigued by Roman/Mattson. I am not opposed to any of the canon ships, or to most non-canon ships. I do DNW intergenerational incest (though Shiv/Marcia is fine).

• The sibs get high together again. The scene before Shiv’s wedding is one of my all time favorite sibling moments.
  
  
• I headcanon that Roman doesn’t really do hard drugs. I’d be interested in an exploration of that. Why not? Did he have a bad experience? Was it because of watching Kendall? What happens when he does do drugs? Maybe he’s accidently dosed, or is pressured into it to pull off a business deal? How do his siblings feels about his relative sobriety? Do they realize?
  
  
• Post-Season 3: Can they keep themselves together as a team? If they break apart, who splits first? Do any of them go back Logan? Do any of them just say fuck it and leave the business world entirely? Does Shiv try to go back to politics?
  
  
• In general, anything around their loyalties being tested, whether or not the test is passed.
  
  
• Shiv and Tom finally decide to get a divorce, or at least separate. How do her sibs react?

• I do headcanon that Roman was sexually abused as a kid, probably by someone in Logan’s circle. If you want to bring that in in some way, feel free.

• Russian Doll Time Loop: Obviously I waive my universe-rule-bending DNW for this request. For me, the key element of the time loop is: 1) they are stuck in it together, 2) the loops end in death (though done more in a darkly humorous rather than gruesome way). And for Succession I feel like it also makes sense to include the “face trauma head-on to get out” elements. I’m less concerned with the “world dying around them” element, though obviously if you want to include it, feel free!

While I’ve divided this section up into different themes for organization’s sake, please feel free to mix and match as makes sense to you. There’s nothing wrong with throwing some bad guy whump into one of the request AU scenarios, using a general H/C freeform in a bad guy scenario, drawing from an art freeform to throw into fic, etc. etc. etc. I trust you.

Canon Specific DNWs and DNW Exceptions: DNW Killing off canon love interests just to get them together. DNW use of “Alpha” and “Omega” honorifics in A/B/O AUs (ie. “Yes, Alpha!”). DNW Mike or Harvey getting pregnant.

General thoughts on Harvey/Mike that at apply across all the requests below: I recently re-fell in love with this canon and ship. They have everything I love in a mentor/mentee ship. Being centrally important to each other! Enough of an age gap and experience differential to really have a mentorship! But the mentee character still being very brilliant at what they do (for a rookie) and having their own POV about how to go about things! An easy banter and generally just very much enjoying each others’ company! Clear admiration for each other! But also emotional repression and difficulty expressing approval/affection on Harvey’s side! Intense, crazy, “I will risk destroying my own life for you” loyalty from the word go! Epically painful fights! But always, always forgiving each other in the end!

I am most interested in getting together fic for them. I love pining, and can see it easily on either/both sides. Harvey is clearly not very good at being in touch with his emotions in the first place, plus he has strict moral codes around relationships, which makes it easy for me to imagine him thinking he should not go there even if he does realize his own feelings. (Plus, Mike is caught up in other romantic relationships almost constantly, and we know how very strict Harvey is about not getting involved with people who are taken). Mike, meanwhile, wears his heart on his sleeve, but also knows what an opportunity Harvey has given him and doesn’t want to risk messing it up. Plus, he could have the impression that Harvey doesn’t Do Relationships anyway. Plus, either of them could easily assume the other is straight.

But extended pining isn’t the only option for them! I am also down for either/both developing feelings over the course of the fic, and/or either/both being oblivious dumbasses who don’t realize their own feelings at first.

In terms of sexual dynamics, I like everything from vanilla through having D/s-y dynamics in bed, preferably with Mike in the sub role (though that does not have to mean physically bottoming!). However, I am not into formalized BDSM unless it is in a prostitute AU where Harvey specifically hires Mike for that purpose, or a BDSM AU.

A big picture thought on timelines and character dynamics: For the canon-based prompts, feel free to set the fic at any point in canon that makes sense to you. Their relationship goes through a lot of different stages, all of which I find interesting for shipping purposes. The early days when Mike seems genuinely unsure if Harvey cares about him; the big Season 2 finale fallout; Mike leaving and then coming back to the firm; the insane emotional intensity of the trial/prison arc; the pain of Mike up and ditching Harvey for Seattle—seriously, there is a lot of fun stuff to chew on throughout.

A note on other characters and ships: Feel free to include whichever other characters! I especially adore Harvey's relationship with Jessica if you want to bring that in.

In terms of the canon relationships—frankly, with this ship I am fine with Harvey and Mike having what amounts to an emotional affair while in other relationships, but I 100% do not want them physical cheating because that is such a big moral code for Harvey. I am also down with Harvey and Mike dating OCs during the fic if you want (esp. if it makes the other jealous), again as long as there is no physical cheating. I am also down with any sort of backstory relationships you want to add for either of them, including backstory Harvey/Jessica.

In terms of dealing with the canon love interests, I’m fine with any solution you can think of other than poly or killing the canon LIs off. Setting the fic during a period where they are both single (as much as you can find one of those for Mike XD )? Totally! AU where the canon couples never got together, or broke up at some point prior to the fic? Yep. Breakup over the course of the fic? Yep. AU where the canon pairs never even had a romantic spark and really were always just friends? Totally. AU where Donna and/or Rachel are actually super gay and maybe into each other? All for it.

• Character A Doesn't Realize How Much Power They Have Over Character B: This could go in either direction. The obvious one is Harvey not realizing exactly how much sway he holds over Mike, but I am at least as interested in the reverse—Mike not realizing that Harvey is completely gone on him, the lengths Harvey will go to protect him, etc.
  
  
• Take canon and make it worse: This canon has a lot of places where things could go wrong (or even more wrong, or differently wrong) for the characters, and I am very down for canon-divergence AUs that explore those possibilities.   • Different Consequences for the Lie: What if Mike is fired at any of the various points where he was almost fired (or any other time you want)? Or what if he gets away with it for a lot longer and the consequences don’t come back to bite him until years down the line? Or whatever else you can think of. Can he get back to being a lawyer? If not, what does he do instead? How does Harvey react to losing him from the firm? Or remember when Harvey made a joke about them fleeing the country when Mike thought he’d been caught? The one thing I’m not interested in is a first meeting where Mike is already a successful lawyer (or successful at any fulfilling job) or law student at a top school. A key part of their dynamic for me is Harvey being surprised by Mike’s brilliance and his unexpected willingness to give him an opportunity Mike is beyond grateful for, so I prefer Mike being in a situation where he’s not living up to his potential

Is it explicitly sexual slavery, or service in general, maybe with an understanding that SOME owners use their slaves in that particular way?
  
  
  • Color me idealistic, but I prefer Harvey not be an enthusiastic participant in the whole system. Maybe he literally inherits Mike and then has to figure out what to do with him, or a client “gifts” him, or he initially belongs to a client but Harvey realizes he’s being mistreated, or he initially belongs to a client but is a bit too lippy for the client’s tastes and by that point Harvey is intrigued and offers to take him off the client’s hands, or he unexpectedly wins him in a poker game, or it’s a required status symbol that Harvey is very reluctantly pressured into, or etc., etc., etc.
    
    
  • Alternatively, for slavery as a result of a crime, maybe it could be linked to Mike being caught as a fraud? Maybe it's between prison and slavery and obviously he picks being Harvey's "slave." In that situation I would assume they'd go into it agreeing Mike would not actually be subserviently in that way, but maybe they have to pretend in public, or other people make assumptions, or they have to navigate Mike's loss of legal autonomy... Or maybe Harvey isn't able to be the one to own Mike right away, and he has to fight through hell and high water to get him back from someone else (perhaps someone abusive?)

• A/B/O: I prefer Harvey as an alpha and Mike as an omega, but as with the BDSM AU, very into them bucking against those roles and finding them confining. I enjoy Mike not wanting to be submissive, and Harvey finding the idea of having his biology control him in any way offensive. Either or both of them overly relying on suppressants is great, as is Mike pretending to be a beta or an alpha.
  
  
  • In general, things I enjoy about A/B/O are inequality, difficult or impossible to control mating urges, bonding, knotting/being stuck together for a while. Scenting is fine but not my kink. For me, the key element of the time loop is: 1) they are stuck in it together, 2) the loops end in death (though done more in a darkly humorous rather than gruesome way). And for this prompt I feel like it also makes sense to include the “face trauma head-on to get out” element, and I like the idea of them meeting for the first time through looping together.

• I am fine with a wide range of things, from a one-night stand to FWB to messy complicated feelings to actual romance. I especially love the idea of them inching towards some kind of unexpected emotional intimacy due to having sex, whether that be the intimacy you can only find with a stranger you know you’ll never see again after that one night or something more long-lasting.
